This is a concept device from Contrail which you can attached at the rear part of your frame, covers your wheel with chalk and lets you doodle the road using your bike. More info here.
I got most of my parts from the internet, because I had trouble finding it here in Manila because most of the bike shops cater to mountain bikes. What i would suggest is to build it yourself DIY style. The only critical part you need to order is the rear hub for the cog, and of course the crank set, but right now some kids from Japan are using BMX crank set because they have the same size for the chain and bottom bracket and they use it more as a trick bike rather than a road bike. There's a good BMX bike shop in Makati in Pasong Tamo the name of the store is MT bike shop. What you also need to do is research first because fixies are starting to evolve now and it will all depend on your preferences. I posted some bike parts sources on my blog and will try to post more in the future. There's also a group of guys in Makati who owns a streetwear shop called "Commune" they're also into fixed gear and they're building it from old parts maybe you can hook up with them. And if ever you decide to order online make sure that it would land on Philippine Customs office, maybe if you have relatives abroad send it to their address let them send it as a balik bayan box. Email me if you have any updates on your project maybe we can help each other. email me through this address jeck.ebreo@bbdoguerrero.com
Hello, my friends and I in Manila are looking to get into fixed gear bicycles. We are skaters, and are interested in tricks and whatnot.
ReplyDeleteI was inspired by my recent trip to San Francisco, very beautiful city if a bit scary because of all the steep hills (and no brakes!)
Would you know of any places to acquire a fixed gear bike in the Philippines? Thanks!
